Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture / 鎌倉(神奈川県鎌倉市)
Hello everyone, this is Ronny ^^/
You have read this ‘Enoshima Island’ post which I introduced before, didn’t you??
Kamakura, which I’m gonna recommend to you today, is located next to Enoshima.
Kamakura is one of Japan’s ancient capitals founded at the end of the 12th century. It is well known as a place where samurai culture was born and flourished while the Buddhist culture was inherited. It is probably one of the areas that laid the foundations for Japanese literature, as stories of their battles appeared for posterity to retell. Thus, Kamakura has a history and tradition that Japan is proud of, and tourists can experience a variety of cultures.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (鶴岡八幡宮)
After the birth of the Kamakura Shogunate by the warrior Minamoto no Yoritomo, Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine, which is associated with him, was built as a guardian deity of the area (古都ごとく鎌倉 – 鎌倉農泊協議会, 2021). Prayers at this shrine are said to bring various benefits, and it is said to be one of the most popular power spots for luck in victory and success in life.
Why not visit this shrine and pray for it yourself?
